Walking on Islay
Islay rewards those who slow down. The island has more than 150 miles of walking routes — from the short circular walk through the Bridgend woodlands, which starts from the door of Islay House, to the full-day traverse of The Oa peninsula in the wild southwest. The coastline path connecting Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig is one of the finest short walks in Scotland. Loch Gruinart is the best birdwatching walk on the island. All of it is within forty minutes.
We can recommend routes for every ability and every interest, and arrange guided walks with local experts for those who want more than a map. Tell us what you are looking for when you book and we will have suggestions ready before you arrive.
These can be arranged via email or phone — please contact us after booking.Other attractions
